Sula Zimmerberger originally studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts/Vienna. In addition to painting and drawing, Zimmerberger has been working increasingly with photography and video for several years. She likes to present these as a space-based installation. Central themes of her artistic work are: Identity, space, nature and their changes. Her artistic practice addresses memory and remembering processes. Narrative constructions that connect space and subject. The essential aspect for their artistic implementation usually takes place on a very individual and personal level. In her work, she tells autonomous stories that emerged from her own observations and perceptions. Stories that are partly familiar to us, partly strange - just „alienated“. Further to numerous national and international exhibitions,
art fairs, Zimmerberger received several grants and artist residencies.
In 2008 she co-founded the art space flat1 in Vienna.
